Player Pathway

As you will have seen, we have joined up with Thornton Hibs Football Club in creating a pathway to there semi professional first team.

We felt that this was more of a "we need to" as supposed to a "shall we do it". Football at Grassroots level up to the "senior sides" has changed the past few years with the creation of the tiered leagues and the chance for East of Scotland sides to try and gain there SFA licence. Part of that is the creation of an Under 20's friday night league and nowadays, most teams have one, not everyone, but most. At this time, we did not have one. The pathway to Thornton now provides us with that platform and for the kids to progress up through the ages and give them something to aim for. This pathway now gives us access to more pitches which we are despereate for and we never had that before so that in itself is a massive positive.

When it comes to the girls section, Stevie Hamilton (Head of Girls Section) has always planned on having the very first "womans senior team" and again, with this tie up, it is now very much possible and very achievable.

Our Kennoway youth teams, boys and girls will now get the chance to play on Thorntons ground which is in the middle of being upgraded and the plans they have off the pitch as well as on it matches our ambition on what we want. Players will be invited up on a regular basis to train with the 1st team and who knows, be part of the 1st team squad, with the chance of gaining experience in that enviroment.

All our kids under the age of 12 will permitted entry to a Thornton home game free of charge and most home games will have an age group attending as either ball boys / ball girls and or mascots leading the team out. Games will be played prior to the 1st team games and at half time by our younger age groups.

It was and never will be our aim to never have youth football teams in Kennoway and this is the reason that teams will transition to Thornton from when they go to U16's in the boys and U18's in the girls sections (Girls is slightly set up different to the boys and is controlled by the SFA & the SWF).

We as a Club are working tirelessly in the background with more positive and "game changing" plans that will benefit the kids, so watch out for these announcments in the coming months.

All we ask is that you give this a chance and just watch it bloom, after all, everything that the Club does always has the kids at the forefront of any decision that is made.

Thanks.
